Chapter 1: A Dog Day Afternoon

Chapter 1: Dog Day Afternoon

It was a long day at school, and as Allyson rode the school bus home, she couldn’t wait to call her best friend Chelsea to tell her about her boring day.

Miss Crabtree, her teacher was boring. Lunch was boring. Recess was boring. And the only funny thing that happened that day, was when Martin, the class geek, farted when he raised his hand to answer a very boring question.

When the school bus stopped, Allyson hopped off. As she started walking home, she saw a HUGE dog walking her neighbor, Joanne. When she got closer, she stopped because she had never seen such a big dog.

I mean this dog was HUGE!

“Wow, that’s a big dog Joanne. Is he yours?” she asked.

“It is,” Joanne replied. “We got him and his wife a few days ago.” (Believe it or not, some dogs are married.)
“Can I pet him?” Allyson asked.
“Sure,” replied Joanne.

The dog wagged his tail as Allyson pet his soft gigantic head.
“What kind of dog is he?” Allyson inquired.
“A Saint Bernard,” Joanne said.
“A Saint what?” But before Joanne could answer, the dog suddenly shook his head from side to side, and drool went flying onto a tree across the street. SMACK!
